Susan Rose Prescott of Everett, Pennsylvania lived to be 62 years of age and passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday morning. She was a loving wife and mother of two boys. She was also loved by her community and church. Sue impacted so many, and her memory will live on forever. She is survived in death by her husband Wayne also of Everett, PA; her two sons, William (engaged to Caley Barnett) of Akron, Ohio and Craig Samuel of Everett, PA; her mother Marlene Putt of Everett, PA; her brother Dean Putt (married to Cathy) of Ephrata, PA; a niece Allison Latshaw (married to Jan) of York, PA; and a nephew Andrew Putt (married to Tyler) of Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her father Dean Putt.
Sue was a Tussey Mountain High School graduate in the class of 1982. After high school she went on to attain an Associate’s degree in Graphic Arts from the California University of Pennsylvania in 1984.
Sue was a current employee of the Bedford Area School District where she worked as the Guidance Office Secretary at Bedford High School. Previously she had worked at the Bedford County Technical Center, New Enterprise Stone and Lime, and several printing jobs in both Pittsburgh, PA and Cumberland, MD.
Sue was a proud supporter and active volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 4481, the Fort Bedford District of Laurel Highlands Council, National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), and the Allohak Menewi Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. With Troop 4481 she most recently served as the Advancement Chair, and had previously been the Cub Scout Den Leader for both Will and Sam. As a member of the Fort Bedford District she served as the District Commissioner and had attained her Doctorate of Commissioner Science in the Boy Scouts of America Commissioner College. Over the last few years she had volunteered heavily with the NYLT program and assisted on camp staff for this event. As a member of Allohak Menewi she became a Vigil member given the Lenni Lenape name of Gahowes Wojauwe translating to “Mother of the Chief,” and served as the Assistant Chapter Advisor for the Nimat Wachtschu chapter of the Lodge.
Additionally, Sue was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, PA. During her time with the Church she served for several years on the Church Council. For many years, she also served as a Sunday School Teacher for both Middle School and High School students. Over the past year, Sue became involved in the Pink Ribbon Fund and was herself a Breast Cancer Survivor.
The number of people impacted by Sue is innumerable; she never ceased to put others above herself and worked tirelessly to make the world and its inhabitants better in every way.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford with Rev. David M. Weinhold officiating. Friends and Family will be received on Friday, February 27, 2026 for a time of visitation at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 West Penn Street, Bedford, PA 15522 from 4-7 P.M.
