Harry Nave Obituary

Harry E. Nave, 84, of Breezewood, PA; passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on April 17, 1941 in Bedford; a son of the late Glenn K. and Vera V. (Swartzwelder) Nave. 

He is survived by his devoted significant other of forty years Cathy E. Wilt; his children Cathy Hockenberry married to Dan, Breezewood, PA; Terry Nave married to Amy, Bedford, PA and Lisa Deremer married to Clarence “Pickle”, Breezewood, PA; seven grandchildren Amanda and Emily; Mindy and Megan; Ashley, Tristan and Trevin; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson; siblings, Lee, Jack, Elsie, Kenny, Joe, Alma, Duke and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by siblings June, Dolly (infant); and a great grandson Kylen.

He was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1959.  He attended Breezewood Wesley United Parish. Harry worked at General Refractories in Claysburg for thirty-eight years.  He was a milk tester and enjoyed farming with his son and grandsons off and on all of his life.  He was a member of the Breezewood Volunteer Fire Company; was the former president of the Raystown Ambulance and also a driver;  he enjoyed hunting, going on wagon train, farming, camping, dirt track racing, NASCAR and hanging out at his daughter’s diner in Crystal Spring. Harry never met a stranger; he would greet you with his “ornery grin” and soon have you laughing.  He loved family events and spending time together.     

Friends and family will be received on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. and 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Patrick Traxler officiating.

Burial will be held privately at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
